I love hanging out at my foster parent's home, but I would really love a home of my own!

I am a mostly black and white rat terrier/chihuahua mix. I am no older than 2 years old, though I don't know my exact birth date. I am about 10 lbs and I have a lot of puppy energy (nothing a little play time won't take care of)! I am good with other dogs, both big and small (I currently am staying with 3 others) and I am good with kids. I love to play with my doggie friends (we love to run around the yard and wrestle) and then power nap to restore my energy. I really love sleeping on my back with all four paws in the air!

I am neutered and up-to-date on all my shots. I am good in the car and I don't mind being bathed or brushed (though I don't really require a lot of maintenance and I don't shed that much). I am really smart and eager to please, but mostly I am looking for a family to spend the rest of my life with!

Please contact my foster parents at 484.653.5212 or visit http://www.atpar.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=1946863 to fill out an adoption application!

Adopt Reesey

My name is Reesey and I'm looking for my forever home! My foster parents pulled me out of the shelter two weeks ago because I was scared, I didn't even want to come out of my kennel! Once I was out of the shelter though, I was so happy to meet everyone! I am much happier now in my foster home!

Before coming to the shelter I was a stray, so I am working my way towards becoming the perfect dog! I am very smart and I have already learned the basic commands like "sit", "down", "stay" and "come". I love all types of treats, but I love affection even more. My favorite thing is lying on my back and having people rub my tummy! I also love to lean up against people while they scratch my head. I might even sit on your lap if you're sitting on the floor. I have a soft and silky coat and everyone always says how beautiful I am.

I am still learning to be housebroken, but I am doing really well! I have learned to love my "house" (crate) complete with a comfy blanket and I go in all by myself (after I bribe my foster parents for treats). I have a lot of energy (cause I'm a pretty young dog) and would love someone with an active lifestyle to adopt me! My foster parents take me on daily walks and they say I am excellent walking on a leash! I also really like car rides! Anyone want to go hiking? My foster parents gave me some toys which I enjoy playing with, even by myself! I am up-to-date on all of my shots, and I have an appointment to be spayed next week.

I love people! I may be a bit shy at first, but I warm up to everyone very quickly! My foster parents are great but I can't wait to meet my forever owner(s)!!

PLEASE CONTACT US AT 484.653.5212

Largest Dogfighting Raid Orchestrated in U.S. History

Reposted from tailsinc.com

"On Wednesday, July 8, four U.S. attorneys, together with multiple federal law-enforcement agencies, the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), Humane Society of Missouri, and American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, raided multiple dogfighting operations and seized at least 450 dogs. All in all, the operations constituted the largest single day of actions against dogfighting in American history. Officers from multiple federal and state law-enforcement agencies made arrests and seized dogs in Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

"This intervention is a momentous victory in our ongoing battle to end the cruel, criminal dogfighting industry," said Wayne Pacelle, president and CEO of the HSUS, in a press release. "The Humane Society of the United States thanks the USDA Office of Inspector General and the Humane Society of Missouri for their commitment to eradicating this nationwide business enterprise that thrives off the pain and suffering of dogs. With each raid we get one step closer to ending this cruel blood sport."

For more than a month prior to the raid, the HSUS had been conducting logistical preparations and transporting equipment and specialized emergency shelter kenneling for hundreds of dogs to Missouri.

Dozens of HSUS experts and volunteers have gathered to provide animal handling, transport, sheltering, and documentation assistance. Many of the dogs rescued from these dogfighting operations will be taken to the emergency shelter in specially designed animal-transport vehicles provided by the HSUS.

Each dog will be evaluated by animal behavior experts from the Humane Society of Missouri and other organizations. This will help determine their suitability for possible placement with rescue groups or individual adopters.

This rescue operation is a great example of how national and local animal-welfare organizations can work together to combat the animal-fighting industry."

FOR ADOPTION: MEET "BRAVO!"

Reposted from email sent by Animal Welfare Project (animalwelfareproject.org)

This is "Bravo," a 4-year-old male Fox Hound. This sweet hound grew up in a clean and loving barn kennel, enjoying the company of his pack. He enjoys going cross-country regularly with horses and hounds (in pursuit of a fake "fox," during drag hunting season). However, Bravo is looking for a new home because he wants to be a lap dog instead of a working boy! He likes to happily gallop along with the others, look up, and smile at the horses --- instead of putting his nose to the ground and working a scent! Bravo couldn't be sweeter, wants lots of loving, and would probably make a great pet farm dog. Call (908) 362-6802 if you have that type of special home waiting for Bravo!

Help Your Pup Cope With Firework Phobia

For those dogs that are noise, thunder, or firework phobic, July 4 can be rough.
